credit judgments

I did recieve a summons from the court. However there was no prior collection activity like an outside agency, just the lawyers office. The lst payment activity on the account was i believe 12/01, according to my credit reprt. alos on my credit report it indicated there are no judgmrnts against me. So could the judgement be real??
