WHY THANK YOU WHY CHAT...LEARNED FROM THE BEST..WONDER WHO ;)

BECKY EXCELLENT MOVE..getting rid of the credit counselor.

If you intend to purchase a home or anything soon or a new car, then bk may not be what you'd want to deal with.

If you have no assets then you really don't have any concerns with them suiing (you're basically judgement proof). More than likely they won't even waste time trying to get something from nothing (as in you're broke). I don't think you even make enough for them to garnish you're wages. So getting a judgement against you would be pointless and costly for THEM.

If there's nothing to take then you could ride it out, but you don't want to try to get any credit cards or anything requiring credit until the SOL has passed on them all. Because they will of course say, hey if she's got money to make payments on something else..WE WANT OUR SHARE TOO!!

I certainly would think a bk would hurt your financial aid tremendously. You could hope for a grant, but in essense a loan is a loan regardless whether it's for college or not. Anyone seeking personal information in an attempt to decide whether or not to lend you money will frown upon a bk. Someone else will let you know if I'm mistaken on this but I believe I'm correct.

So if you're judgement proof and making no more than you're making, let it ride. Groceries and regular house hold items ALONE can run close to $400 a month, so you don't have room to send money anywhere.

I'd just hate to see you file bk, finish school, and still end up in a hell hole job because they check credit or won't hire due to bk, renting a house for 7 or 10 years cause you can't buy one.

Get yourself caller id and don't even bother with the phone, but DO keep all letters mailed to you by these collectors. You may need them one day if you get on your feet years from now and they try to come after you after the SOL has run.
