If you pay less than the minimum, they will hit you with late fees and then cut the credit line and then you'll deal with over the limit fees.

You're best bet is see if they'll work with you. Call and inquire about a hardship program. Many card companies have them where they'll reduce the minimum payment and interest rates for a time.
