Unfortunately, if you didn't WRITE out your settlement agreement and state you didn't want a negative mark placed on your report or EVEN if you didn't write and say the balance can't be sold..then there's not much you can do at this point. I didn't know any of this either until this board and some helpful links.

Most don't know they have choices in this matter, especially settling and the key is to write it up with the specifications you want for them accepting the check.
