In 1990, the average American was 2 missed paychecks away from eviction.

The only reason many of us who have credit fail to notice that we are among the working poor is we never analyze what we go into debt for on our cards.

I include myself in the "we" because changing a mindset can take some doing. It took me a year, during which I could easily have done quite a bit of damage to the amounts outstanding on credit cards to even notice that my problem -- being an easy target for muggers and having to travel by public transportation at odd hours -- had been SOLVED when I moved my bank account and was automatically issued a debit card.

MEANWHILE, regarding the FTC suggestion, what might be a better idea than checking BBB would be to ask the collections supervisor at the OC that is harrassing you if they have had TIMELY PAYMENTS from creditors the organization that's verbally communicating things like we survive on donations, it's optional to make one ...

You might decide you'd rather deal with the collectors, or at least have a 100% HONEST history of always late
