Wrong. Bad credit can make it impossible to get a cell phone, electric service without paying a huge deposit, and it can make it nearly impossible to RENT an apartment. Everyone has to live somewhere, so EVERYONE has an incentive to get their credit report as clean as possible.

Since you yourself have stated that scam artists are coming out of the woodwork lately trying to collect on bogus or SOL debts, I think people should assert their rights and demand validation.

The answer,of course ,is that the ONLY people who need to improve their credit reports are those who have something they want to apply for, a house, a refinance, a car.
