I suggest you wait until you get out of college and have a job before you get your own credit card. Credit card companies are always soliciting college students...and as a result....many young people go bankrupt before they even get their first job. If you need to build your credit now...try buying a used car, if you can budget the payments. Credit cards are usually trouble for people who don't have a steady income. At 18 you have plenty of years to "build your credit". Don't get trapped in early credit card debt.
