15 yr defaulted student loan haunting me now, worried about home.

I live in Georgia and I am an unemployed stay home mom and I am being called frequenty by some very rude people at NCO for a student loan that I took out in 1983. I have a good credit record and was able to buy a home and I also own a Land Cruiser. They did offer me a 50% settlement on a 15k student loan. I am so afraid they will take my stuff quickly. Should I accept the settlement and take out a loan to pay them or can I get them to go lower. My home is my castle what should I do?
