EXPLORE ALL POSSIBILITIES and also take some basic actions

1 -- knock the balance DOWN on this tiny little card so
2 -- talk with your CAPONE service rep.

The charge may have been misposted (not likely) OR you may need to talk with their fraud division.

If charges you know were made during the quarter are missing, check to see if they are PENDING against your balance. Reps can know how much (total) even if not who charged what til close of statement.

3 -- HOW was the charge made? as in what city, state? on or off internet? Does Sony HAVE your CC info, or was this a "sony card"?

ATTACK?

4 -- Have any kids with ambitions of getting a VISA card for Christmas? And/or a thirst for vertigous games?

May be time to play the "George and the Cherry Tree" game. AND also resist urge to prove that "I can not tell a lie" is the dumbest personal policy a kid can adopt.

Just make sure if this IS the problem that little George or Georgina know that after the good part (no punishment for telling the truth) there was something left out of George Washington's story that you are pretty darned certain happened, to wit (references to cherry trees below are metaphorical):

"George/Georgina, if you ever chop down another one of my cherry trees or (fill in blanks) again, you are not gonna feel comfortable sitting down for a month. I love my cherry trees, you see, and when people chop them down, I just go nuts. ... If you want something like this, tell me. We will figure out whether or not we can buy it now or maybe later when it's on sale.

CONFESS!!!

Basically, kids young enough to pull a stunt like that prefer sane parents to wackos. I know I did. Also know what a chore dad had keeping his cool when I pulled THIS stunt:

In 3rd grade I think it was we learned how to write checks, balance a checkbook, and reconcile a bank statement.

My handwriting was always as awful as if I had gone to some class entitled "doctor's handwriting made simple", and imitating HIS signature and writing style was a breeze.

Dad and mom had been going on and on about what to get uncle for his birthday, the guy had everything, yada yada yada ...

And I thought I had hit on the PERFECT gift. And of course decided to make it a surprise. (Got it half right, at least.)

I had heard or read something about a "blank check" and got the bright idea to slip a check that was dated and signed but not filled out with a dollar amount anywhere into the cake we were baking for this birthday gig.

LUCKILY dad noticed the check was gone and the register side blank BEFORE either one of my aunts or uncle got their hands on that little piece of paper. The three of them might have torn it in thirds, but none of them would have given it back -- at least I don't think so.

But dad kept his cool even though I know the impulse to just yank it out of my hand and do what HIS father would have done was nowhere close to mild. I gave it back voluntarily (heck, it was only a bank check, right?) and got an education instead of a spanking.

Thus the family fortune was saved, and I also learned to never ever sign a check before everything else was filled out. That a blank check was not something to ever give away, and why. Plus I got dad's confession that he had been a dunce about the checking acct when he first got it. Adding the checks he wrote to the balance instead of subtracting.
