The next step, settling a judgement?

I am need of some more advice again...It looks as if all of our debts will be past the sol for MO very, very soon! The only thing left is the judgement against me, that I thought was 3 years old, but is only 2, not that it makes much difference. It was for 6700, plus court fees, and of course interest of 9% is accruing. As the outlook of our finances will not be changing, my husbands illness will not improve. He will be on SSI for 5 more years, and then it will be Social Security for us. As I have said here before, the only thing we have is our old home in both our names, not in good condition, worth 21,000, and two 20-yr. old vehicles. I cannot work because I stay at home to take care of my husband.

After the statute of limitations is passed for everything else, I need to protect whatever we have in our home. We may want to sell it someday, and we do not want to give everything to this CA that got the judgement. My daughter is willing to help me pay some of the judgement. I know I can do BK, the idea honestly makes me nervous, but I know I need to consider that also. As Why Chat has told someone else, I should get an attorney to handle a judgement settlement. Can anyone give me an idea of how much this CA may be willing to accept as payment? With the alternative of BK that an attorney may tell to this CA, is there an average bottomline percentage that has been accepted in the past for other people? We certainly can't give them a whole lot. But before I go to an attorney, I would like to be prepared with some knowledge of what I want and what to expect him or her to accomplish for me. I checked Why Chat's site and the recommended attorneys are far away. So, if anyone has any experience with settling a judgement, please help me with information.

Sorry this is so long, and thank you for any answers you may give...
Barbara
