Silly Question... Think I know the answer but not sure

I live in SD, Soon to be Ex-husband has an account that was sent to collections at the time of the bill we were seperated (No legal doc), CA has now contacted me telling me that it will be on my credit report, As I understand it SD is not a community property sate so this should not go to my credit. How do i tell them to leave me alone?
Next, Ex also has a bill from b4 we were married that they are trying to stick me with how do i get that one out of my hair(Validation + copy of marriage certificate?) Thank you,
