Condo Assoc Assessment

I recently cleared up a battle with my mortgage company and am now having trouble with the condo assoc. This is all because of unemployment, although I do have some interviews lined up
once a year a special assessment comes due which is in addition to the regular monthly dues. They want the assessment paid in one lump which I have been unable to do. I have been paying my regular dues every month and even added to it - doubled or tripled - to pay for the additional assessment. The extra assessment was $100 and I have paid $600 of it; however, they have retained an attorney which means I now have to pay to line his pockets.

I cannot afford to pay other than the way I am doing. HELP.
