Cease & Desist calls letter...how long to process?

Hi gang I faxed a 3rd party collection agency a Cease & Desist letter to stop all phone contact immediately...I've also sent the same letter by certified mail. How long do I need to give them to "process" my C&D letter before they are in violation? 1 day or maybe less? The fax will be sitting there in the a.m. when they open. Thanks for your advice!
