Linda, I'm also doing a program with CCCS. You can find local offices by going to http://www.nfcc.org . This is the National Foundation for Credit Counseling--I would NEVER deal with any debt management company who is not a member of this organization (accountability!). Nota bene: CCCS has recently changed its name to "Greenpath." I have to add to the positive feedback for CCCS' counselors and the debt management program. I'm paying my debt off at a reasonable monthly amount, and although it IS currently notated on my credit report that I'm doing credit counseling, all but one of my creditors have promised in writing to remove the notation and update the accounts to "paid" within 60 days of my completing the program (and we're making headway with the one stubborn creditor, whose name rhymes with Shittybank). I keep in very close touch with my counselor--we speak at least twice a week to make sure we're on the same page. I don't necessarily think it's a great option for everyone, but for me, it works.
