In 1995, I opened a store credit card. Soon after that, I lost my job and was unable to keep up w/payments. In 1996, I paid off the debt in a settlement and it was reported as a charge off. This account is now scheduled to continue on record until Septemeber 2003. Is there a way I can dispute this, and have this account removed from my credit report? Can anyone help me in wording this? I was going to say something like: "this should be removed because the debt was satisfied and therefore should not be reported as a charge off"--will this get the account totally removed?
