However, just to be on the safe side, make sure a deficiency default judgment wasn't already filed.
I doubt strongly that it was, however if it exists, it would be on your husband's credit report.
If it isn't there, send these scumbag collection agents a VERY strongly worded cease and desist, they are violating the law by threatening you with garnishment on a debt they are NOT allowed to file a suit on.
Did you get something in writing from them? If not, this is likely one of the illegal "garbage" collection agencies. If they call back, request their mailing address, if they say they won't give it, ask them to speak a little louder as the conversation is being recorded for the benefit of the law enforcement agencies you are filing a complaint with.
You owe them nothing, they cannot legally collect from you even IF they were a legitimate outfit.
