Well sure it is true if you pay it off you can apply for another amex card just like you can any other card. The problem is you will have a paid chargeoff on your report which would keep you from getting the card anyway. If they say you will 100% get a card then they are lying. If they say you might get a card or can reapply then of course you can. My report is clean now. Oddly enough the amex card was put back on last week but all negatives are gone except it says closed by credit grantor. I could have it removed because I was not given a 5 day notice of reinsertion but since it is like 5 years old it is doing more good than harm so I leave it. Still, even with a 680 I get turned down from all credit. I am concentrating on bumping all hard inquiries off my reports and paying down the $1000 cc and then I should be just fine. I had 3 hard inquiries deleted from TU today(had 14 now 11) and I gained 18 points just from those 3 so I am thrilled.
