By all means deal with it later. You're not being a doormat, you're acting with your own best interests in mind, and that is go be able to deal with the other things on your plate for now. Put this on you calendar at some reasonable date in the future, and evaluate whether you can deal with it then. That's what I do when forced to choose like that.

If you gave them a letter of dispute when you paid, put a note on your calendar to follow up with another letter if you don't get the explanation of the charges from them. That only takes a few minutes. You can be the "gnat in their face" even if you can't take action right away. Let them know you didn't forget it.
