Voluntary surrender

My mother is disabled and can no longer operate the 5 speed shift on her leased car....she would like to surrendor it or at best sell it, she is under mileage and the car is in pristene condition...Is there a way she can surrender this car without a judgement, say with a medical note???or can she sell it to a private party to pay off the term???
