Bankruptcies stay on your credit report for 10 years, and in most cases, there isn't much you can do about that. After 4 years, the impact of the bankruptcy should have lessened to some degree as far as things like getting a mortgage or a car loan at a decent rate. Ill-advised or not, the price of filing for bk is that 10-year shadow on your credit report.

Have you established other GOOD credit history since the bk ??

I have heard thru other boards that there is a *possibility* that you can have a bk entry removed from your credit report, but you have to be VERY careful in attempting such a thing.
