Even if it is a CRA error, it is very hard to correct permanently. I do not know why. Why they do not check the DOB, SSN, address before posting accounts. My daughter and I have the same name, but different DOBs, SSNs, addresses. Every year one of the CRAs mixes our records. We always send a joint dispute, full of copies of our ID, SSN cards etc. They correct the error, relatively fast (means in 60 days) but 6-12 months later they mix our records again. This has been going on for 6 years....
We have very rare name. How about the 1 million+ John Smith-s?
So my advice, if you can correct the mistake check your report again and again ....
