My summarized story: Lost large money in stock market (over 100K) with credit card money. Foolish to think I know the market bottom but got cut by the falling knife. No problem to pay a little over the min. payment for quite a while. This week, rumor that my company is considering filing chapter 13 and will lay off half of staff. I live in California.
My question is, if I get laid off and don't have income to pay bills, should I call the credit card company to inform I lost my job or just let the credit card bills get default quietly?
Thanks in advance.
