Hon, this is called kiting, and it is illegal, no matter what your intentions are. You can't write checks on money you "are supposed to get" - it isn't in the bank, you can't write a check, no exceptions.

You say you are "getting letters." How long has it been since this happened? What state are you in? Were both accounts Bank One accounts?

You are really just going to have to come up with the money they say you owe. No choice. Absolutely none. If you have to eat peanut butter and go without electricity and phone service, and a few other things, you have to pay this.
