I went back to see your original post,I did not reply at the time because I thought you were too stubborn and foolish to do anything that made sense, and I would have told you that your attitude will only wind up costing you more in the long run.

I will bet you will find that the derogatories will still be on your credit reports for a LONG LONG time, no matter what the CA lawyer told you.

Please do not come back here looking for advice on how to remove it.

I am posting your "original" post so newbies can see what I am talking about in reference to a bad attitude.

I posted yesterday about picking up a summons from a creditor at the Sheriff's office. I got it and it is from a law firm representing Capitol One. (Mann Bracken) Get this: It is for $890. The actual amount I charged was $300. It is my intention to pay this- the $300 only. The rest is total BS.
I read all the information on validating the debt with the debt collector and I intend to do this. At the same time I file this letter should I also dispute the debt? Also, I have to file a response with the court within 30 days. Obviously I will dispute the debt then, but is there specific information that I can include in the letter? What is the next step? Negotiating with Capitol One or the law firm?
I quit paying this card a year ago when they would not quit adding $50 a month in late charges and over the limit fees. They would not budge on it.
Thanks for any input!
