I doubt they are actually being "sued".
There are a bunch of scam "garbage" collection agencies that use old stale date to scam people into paying for old debts.
Have them get the name and address of the ca that has called them, tell them to ask for a written statement, if the ca says they will only accept a wire transfer, or direct tel. check, you KNOW it is a con game.

Make sure they give NO personal nformation,if they are continually contacted,tell them to ask the agent to speak up, as the call is being recorded for the Sheriff's office.
