You have been very helpful. I have another question maybe you can shed some light on. I am planning to request a dismissal in the case with the "law firm/collection agency." I noticed that when I received a copy of the letter sent to the court requesting a delay to allow them time for "discovery" it was only sent to my husband - not to me. Unless my copy comes today). I was listed on the original document that was filed to the court. My question is this. Since I requested the validation for the debt and requested that it be sent to me can the "law firm" claim that my husband never requested it? Or is a married couple considered one unit? I am just wondering is this a technicality that I should be careful with. His name is listed before mine. I guess the best idea would be to request everything in both names - but until this point I have been doing all the follow through for both of us. Once again, thanks for input.
