I had the same problem. I had a joint account. On the original application I was the co-applicant. The other person did not make payments. When I found out I immediately went to Sears and paid the balance in full ($730 none of which was mine) and closed the account. After a few months I told the CRA that I don't have an account by that number with Sears. Sears verified it. I do have another Sears account that is in my name only that has always been in good standing that I would like to keep.
