If you wish to avoid damaging your wife's credit, your best bet is individual ch7 BK.
If you let your debts go to judgment, they will be on record for 10 years ,and are then renewable. In a community property State, that means it will prevent you and your wife from doing much of anything for a long time, PLUS since the judgments will be on record, they may well show up on your wife's credit reports too.
An individual ch7 BK will not be anywhere NEAR as bad as having the ca vultures after you for an uncollected judgment.
