HI--We had 3 credit debts--all were approx. 2 yrs in default we simply continue to pay, """3 hospitalizations plus reduction in income simply made them low priority". We were also being foreclosed by county on our house n property delinquent taxes. We have since worked out a payment agreement with county for taxes. But here's the ? ---I mentioned we had 3 delinquent credit cards --Discover--$1500---Sears -$5,000---- and Fleet-$5,500. We received an offer from discover to pay 50% -which was $750--we decided we could swing it so we closed the discover as payment of $750. Ok --here's the catch --A few months latter suddenly --We receive a summons on the fleet card for $7,300. I contacted the firm --they said their desire to sue us stemmed from the fact that - we had made the payment on the discover account. So I'm walking around mumbling and cursing --saying what in the world --so paying off a debt - simply wets the taste for all delinquent accounts to suddenly take legal action. --Another quick question - both me and my mother receive social security disabilty and we have is there an protection afforded us - our only asset is our house. ARe they simply going to put 2 liens against it--Fleet and of course I'm sure sears will catch wind of this recovery. Thanks :):):) State New York
