No- don't give up.
Write up a complete statement, including all the information you remember, including the name of the store, the fact that to your knowledge the item was sent back to the store and resold, etc. etc. do it in the form of an affadavit, that is, you are swearing that the information is true. Have it NOTARIZED, present it to the court. Unless the ca can PROVE you are lying, you will win.
