I stopped paying on this account one year ago. I guess it cannot be called "old" in terms of debt collection. The summons was sent to me by certified mail, and yes, I signed for it. There was a court docket case # and the location of the court was the town in which I lived when I incurred this debt. I was given 28 days to respond not including the day I signed for the summons. I contacted an attorney in AZ and found I would have to hire an attorney in OH to file my response, if I decide to do so. I am strongly considering contacting the credit card company and asking for a settlement before taking legal options. Also do not know how to file a response thru the court. Does this have to be done strictly through an attorney? If not, is there a specific form I must use for this? I thank you all for your advice!
