FHA lets you get a home as long as you have 1 clean year of credit and no unpaid judgements or collections. As for getting another good cc, forget it. Settling on a cc is worse I have found than not paying at all. It puts a profit/loss flag on your account and loan and cc companies run like hell from it. Even after 5 years I get turned down because of a settle cc from 1997. oh the pain.
