getting someone ealse bad credit off my report

my wife has been divorced for 3 years, her ex. took out 3 cards under their names the year before they divorced kept them in good standing till the year after. now first U.S.A ( http://members.tripod.com/fusa1/)
says that she is obligated to pay his debt that went bad a year after they were divorced.
Dose anyone have any advice. the divorce paper state nothing. If we cann't get it off how long dose it stay on if the debt is never paid?
