zoe,

What state are you in?

Have you contacted the co-signer?

Is CAMCO stalking them, too?
If not, why not?

Don't expect a letter from them, expect a summons, if that can be served by mail. But not before they have harrassed you halfway into a resthome, and, if possible, driven your supervisors where you work crazy, too.

Read FDCPA in full. Yes, they MUST respond in writing within 5 days of contacting you.

If they don't, do NOT wait to send a request for validation, but look into how much it would cost to have a lawyer send the letter FOR you over his letterhead. They tend to back off quick and toss the hot potato to someone else when a lawyer comes calling or writing. Serendipity here is, if they want to call some body to harrass them, they have to call your lawyer. And lawyers who deal with CAs tend to have their calls answered by an answering service. And if they are one of our clients and I get the call, they won't say diddly, not even their company name, not a name, not a phone number. He doesn't get charged, you don't get charged. We starve but that's what he pays us to do with his basic monthly fee.

If you DO send a validation request yourself, follow WhyChat's formats religiously and DO NOT SIGN the letter. This outfit is so UNethical, having any personal info including a sample of your handwriting in their hands is truly risky.

Meawhile, get the story on how come they have paper in their hands from the cosigner.

They picked YOU because something on your CR started their legal review staff slavering.

Find out what's up, and if you can locate what caused these TIGERS to pounce, post that on this board, please!!!

lucy
