Providian! HELP!

As I've been reading some of the posts I see I am not the only one that thinks Providian is scum.

Here's what I get in the mail today. A letter from Providian stating that they had reviewed my credit report from Equifax for one of their periodic reviews for a credit increase. They inform me that they are going to close my account because of derogatory information on this report! I pulled my equifax report and there is NOTHING on it derogatory. We had a bankruptcy back in 1996 (chapter 13) and it has been discharged for a year. We just bought a house.... I'm totally baffled.

Can they legally close my account like this? I have always paid on time and paid early with these idiots, never missed a beat. I have had this card for over 2 years!

What do I do??
