What you did was ok, did you ask that they validate it ? They won't be able to, they'll just lay the 'moral obligation' BS on you. Send them a Cease and Desist letter and in it you tell them never to contact you again as the account is time-barred. WhyChat has an excellent SOL letter on his site that you can use. These scumbags are nasty. You need to check your credit reports ASAP and make sure they have not tried to re-age the account.. its illegal and you can sue them if they do it.
