They don't have to notify me if I was just late. However, I disputed this amount altogether, and after they denied my dispute, I sent them a letter under the Fair Credit Billing Act saying that I continue to deny the charge. The reason I'm "late" is because I'm refusing to pay this erroneous bill. And it is my understanding from reading the Fair Credit Billing Act that they have to include on my credit report that I'm disputing this charge, and they have to notify me whenever they report me to anybody.
