If there is an actual court docket # and the name of the court on your summons, then you should file an actual answer with the court. It is too late for the SOL letter. Most small claims cases are settled at a mediation hearing, or pre-trial conferance. You MUST serve the lawyer and send the original to the court or you will get hit with a default judgment.

Look up on line the court you are scheduled for, check out their website for exact instructions on how to file your answer with them.A "pre-trial" conference is not a "scare" tactic, it is a way for the ca lawyer to get a default judgment without having to actually present his case to the court.

You should file a notice of appearance also, for the pre-trial conferance.MAKE SURE that you follow YOUR County court rules, if you need help finding the specific court rules, e-mail me the name of the court jurisdiction and I will get it for you.
