Getting a Collections off my Report

I have only 2 derogatory marks on my credit report. I paid (in April of this year) a Collection agency, Fallon, the $200 I owed for dr's bills from 98. There were 2 dr's bills and they are both on my report as collections and paid as of today's date. This was before I found this wonder world of advise. Is there any way that I can get them to remove this? Or do I have to wait out another 7yrs. How long can they report the collections after they've been paid. I would love to get this off my report ASAP, if possible. I live in California. Any advise is appreciated. Thank you.
