Help! I sent a Validation Letter to Midland Credit Management (Collecting on a Discover card in the amount of $3,997 now up to $5,575) on Sept.12, 2002. I received a letter from them dated Sept. 16,2002 and this is what it read:
_________________________________________
This Letter is in response to your verbal dispute regarding the above referenced account.

The purpose of this letter is to request your assistance so that we can reach a quick resolution of this matter. Please mail or fax us a letter outlining the details of your dispute, along with any written proof you may have to support your claim (examples of proof may include a settled in full letter or a police report in the case of fraud). In the interim, we have requested that the three major consumer reporting agencies change the satus of this account to "Disputed".

My question is what do I do next, I've sent the 1st validation letter and now there wanting me to send a police report or somthing. And also if someone can help me determine if the SOL has expired on this account, as you can see below on the two separate Credit Reports 6 months apart the dates are changing. My State is Texas and the sol is 4 years. I'm sure I haven't paid on it in the last 4 years but I don't have any documentation to prove this. I've had a person come by place of work twice now saying that he had a summons to give to me,so far I've managed to avoid him, hoping to gather some information that I can use against them. If this is the actual creditor that is after me, have two other creditors it could be.

Here's some information on the dates, etc. from the CRAs.

Credit Report from Equistar dated 3/02 shows
Midland Credit
Date Last Activity 7/97
Date Accout Opened un/kn
Months History Revd 5
Number of Times/Dates Past Due {left blank)

Credit Report from all three CAs in one report dated 9/02 shows
Midland Credit
Date Last Activity 2/02 (Transunion & Experian)
Date Acct. Opened 5/99
Number of Times/Dates Past Due Max del:02/96(30)

The newer report I have from Experian by itself dated 9/02 shows:
Midland Credit
Date Opened 5/99
Reported Since 2/01
Last Reported 8/02
Date of Status 2/01
Acct. History Collecton as of 10-2001 to 8-2002, 2-2001 to 8-2001
Status Details: This account is scheduled to continue on record until 8/04

the listing on the report for the actual Creditor shows
Discover
Date Last Activity 7/97
Date acct. opened 1/92
Months History Revd R9
Number of Times/Dates Past Due Max del: 2/96 (30)

Any Help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Again
PS While looking at my Credit Report I notice that they have two ss# for me one correct and the other is off by two digits should I wait until I dispute all the Creditors first and then ask them to correct this?
