This advice is right on the money.

They are illegally re-aging the account on your credit report, in order to coerce you into paying them. Keep these credit reports, they are very important to your situation.

If someone is really trying to serve you, and you are up to dealing with them face to face, accept the service. My guess is it is one of those fako supboenas they are getting famous for, and it is illegal.

If they are calling you, record it. Calling or attempting to collect after receiving validation request is illegal.

Next, dispute their entries on your credit report via a letter, stating that the account is being illegally re-aged.

Don't respond to their letter asking for proof. You don't have to prove anything, they do, and if you inadvertently end up talking to them, tell them exactly that, not to call you anymore until they can prove the debt is yours, and hang up. Any validation they give you will have to include the original carge-off date, and then they will have stated YOUR case for you.

So, wait for your green card, and don't give in when they badger you. Just put the phone down and leave it until they get tired of wasting their time. But log or record the call. They will try to scare you - that is all they can do.

Linda
