Well-if they were able to sell the car to a junkyard, then they had title,which means the lien was not recorded.Give me a few days and let me look up the motor vehicle sales laws for Mn.

When was the case postponed to?
How come the Court postponned for a no-show on the plaintiff's part instead of dismissing?
Had the plaintiff's lawyer called in?Or was he actually there and not expecting your friends to show up?

Sometimes,, they just send a flunky to proccess a default judgment for defendant no-shows, and do not appear for cases when someone actually shows up.That is why I think there is a possible flaw in their case.
