I just got a letter from Camco. This is for a cc debt in 1992. For those interested this is what it said.
Creditor: xxxxx
Current Balance: xxxx
Settlement Offer: (less
(than 10% of current)
Payment: 0
Total Due: xxx

We at Camco have decided to extend a most generous offer of settlement until xx/xx/xx. At that time, unless one of the options suggested below is accepted, we will evaluate your credit history and present financial circumstance, and then proceed with an appropriate collection program in accordance with state and federal law.

We believe that you have an important decision to make at this time. The wrong choice could be more costly to you in the future since you ultimately will be responsible for the full amount due on this account.

Kindly check one of the options suggested below and return.

Anyway, I'm half tempted to take it. These guys sound like real jerks. If they don't get the money, it sounds like they just sell it to someone else. It seems like this could haunt me for a long time to come and it might be worth it to get rid of it once and for all. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
