Wondering if anyone has ever negotiated with the tax authorities whether state or federal (MN) about paying the overdue tax and leaving the credit report okay.

I have been disputing an employer's report of 1099-Misc income (sent 2 letters to former employer asking for verification of this "1099 income) for 3 years and have now been receiving letters of impending tax lien from authorities. The amount is puny (less than $300) so it's not the amount its the fact that the company fraudulently reported prepaid expenses as income in retaliation for my complaint to EEOC of co-worker's behavior.

Yes, it's ugly. Really want to know if anyone has had success in paying amount but getting tax authorities to remove remarks on credit, if there, or simply not report it.

Thanks bunches!
