If they sent you a letter, send them back a cease and desist/dispute/validation letter.

If it was by phone, and they call back, request an address as you are reporting their fraudulent extortion to the FTC the Cal. AG's office and the State Atty's office for prosocution under Cal. laws against fraudulent collection practices.

On repossessions, even recent ones, the vehicle has to have been legally repossessed by State law before any DEFICIENCY can be claimed or collected on.
