I checked the SOL list on this site and it says 3 years for open accounts. Federal law defines credit cards as open accounts in the TILA (Truth in Lending Agreement). The list says that written contracts in Washington are 6 years. If they're saying it's still within SOL, it looks like they may be trying to pass it off as a written account, which is wrong.

I agree with Linda. WhyChat will be able to give you some good info and advise on what to do.
