Being a former debt collections manager, I can tell you that what that collector did is a big "no no". If you have already filed complaints with the BBB, FTC, and Attorney General, those are the appropriate agencies to report this violation to. I would strongly suggest following up with those regulating agencies to see what the response to your complaint is. I would STRONGLY urge you to send a letter to the collection agency that is calling you to "cease and desist" further communication. Fair Debt COllection Practices Act (FDCPA) Sec 805c allows you notify IN WRITING that you wish to stop the calls. There ARE exceptions that allow collectors to call again, but in lieu of your story, I doubt they'll continue once they receive your letter. Hope that helps.
