I've found that in the current economic climate CA's are more willing to remove negative information for full payment. If you've got the money negotiate for deletion. They resist at first, but once they realize your serious and intend to pay in FULL, CA's will delete the record, but get it in writing first. If their unwilling to negotiate, you get to keep the money and you're credit report is no worse off. Time heals all credit files. Just don't put yourself in the same position in the future.
