carol i hate to say this but yes they are without a doubt legally able to get a judgement on you based by the SOL of your state becouse you were served by 1 day within the states statue .. i dont know your situation like you of course but its obvious to me they ( your in laws & maybe their attorney ) knew exactly the SOL time frame you had left to be legally served & they exercised that position , all i can say is WOW on their part !! carol theres much smarter people on this forum than myself such as whychat who knows the legalities of these type of dealings & im sure he'll reply but "in my opinion" you should sit down with an attorney thats looking out for YOUR interests becouse im SURE thats what your relatives have already done on their part .. i think you may have some very good evidence with the documents that you now have but again im far from an expert .. like i say im sure others will write in but keep a chin up & hate to say this but looks to me you have no choice but to answer the summons or else they will without a doubt win that judgement by default & personally thats a route i would not go if it can be helped ... kelly ......
