Below is a draft of a letter I am sending to the creditor who recently placed an item in my credit report. It was discussed in detail in another post some time ago. I've disputed this with the credit agencies as well.

Any comments? Any obvious errors or traps?

"Erroneous item in credit report

Recently I noted entries in my credit report stating I have an unpaid balance with Commonwealth Edison. These items were entered into my credit reports in August 2001. At that time, and for several years prior, I was not resident in the State of Illinois and cannot possibly have used your services.
I would appreciate your immediate action to remove these items from my credit report. Please contact the **** Collections agency and advise them the alleged unpaid account is erroneous.
If you feel I in fact owe this amount, please inform me when and where this amount was incurred, and why no attempt was made to collect this balance in a timely manner. If documentation is available to prove I owe this amount, I will pay the debt provided you agree in writing to delete any derogatory credit information from my credit reports.
